Software
Which platforms does the software support ?
TheLightingController II runs on:
Windows (64 bits)
macOS (Apple Silicon M1 and newer)
macOS (Intel)
Linux
Android
iOS
Raspberry Pi
TheLightingController Classic runs on:
Windows (64 bits)
Windows (32 bits)
macOS (Apple Silicon M1 and newer)
macOS (Intel)
Is the software fully touch-friendly ?
Yes. TheLightingController II is fully touch-friendly.
The interface is designed to work smoothly with touchscreens and automatically adapts to different screen sizes and resolutions, making it suitable for tablets, touch-enabled PCs, and other touch devices.
How many DMX universes can the software control ?
The software supports up to 6 DMX universes, providing control of 3,072 DMX channels.
Can I program my lightshow off-stage ?
Yes. The software includes a built-in 3D visualizer, allowing you to program, preview, and fine-tune your light show without being on site and without connecting any DMX interface.
This makes it easy to prepare shows in advance and ensure everything is ready before on-site installation.
Does the software support external Beat/BPM trigger ?
Yes. The software supports external Beat/BPM synchronization via Ableton Link, the VirtualDJ API, and the built-in beat detection tool.
Can I transfer my light show to another platform ?
Yes. Using the “Export Lightshow” and “Import Lightshow” functions, you can easily transfer your lightshow between platforms.
For example, you can program your lightshow on a PC for greater comfort, then transfer it to a tablet to run it on site.
What is the maximum number of channels the software can control ?
The software can control up to 6 DMX universes, for a total of 3,072 DMX channels.
For example, this can be achieved using three D1024W interfaces.
Can I request a custom DMX fixture profile ?
Yes. We create custom DMX fixture profiles upon request, free of charge.
Simply post your request on our support forum, either in the TheLightingController II section or the TheLightingController Classic section, and our support team will create the fixture profile for you.
DMX interfaces
What is the difference between D512S, D1024W and Rack1024 ?
D512S: an affordable USB DMX interface, ideal for simple setups and entry-level use.
D1024W: a USB and Wi-Fi DMX interface with advanced standalone features for flexible and remote-controlled installations.
Rack1024: a 19-inch rack-mount DMX interface offering extended standalone capabilities, designed for permanent and professional installations.
Do the interfaces support Art-Net ?
Yes. The interfaces support Art-Net and allow 2 or 3 DMX universes to be transmitted over Ethernet, depending on the interface model.
Are the DMX interfaces reliable ?
Yes. SweetLight DMX interfaces are designed for professional and long-term use.
They feature robust metal housings, electrical protections, and are engineered to ensure stable and reliable DMX output in demanding environments.
If a faulty lighting fixture sends an overvoltage on the DMX line, or if the lighting system creates ground loops or voltage imbalances, SweetLight interfaces are designed to continue operating safely. This level of electrical protection helps prevent failures that can occur with low-cost interfaces lacking proper isolation and protection.
Unlike inexpensive interfaces sold online without software or support, SweetLight interfaces are part of a complete, tested, and maintained ecosystem, ensuring reliability, safety, and long-term stability for professional installations.
Why use a USB Type B connector?
Because it is extremely robust and reliable. The USB Type B connector is well known for its mechanical strength and durability, making it an excellent choice for professional equipment and long-term installations.
Users of smartphones with USB-C connectors will not disagree 😉
When there is enough space available on the interface, it makes sense to choose USB Type B, which is designed to withstand frequent connections and demanding environments.
For reference, printers still widely use this connector for exactly the same reasons: reliability and longevity.
Standalone Mode
What is standalone mode ?
Standalone mode means that your programmed light show runs directly inside the DMX interface, without requiring a computer.
Once the show is uploaded, the interface operates autonomously, ensuring reliable and continuous playback even when no PC or internet connection is present.
Depending on the interface model, different standalone features are available:
D512S
The D512S can automatically start a predefined light scene when it is not connected to the software, making it ideal for simple and reliable autonomous operation, or as a “no-blackout” fallback in case of a computer crash.Rack1024
The Rack1024 provides 16 light scenes organized into 4 zones, which can be triggered using the front-panel buttons, an infrared remote control, or external contacts. This makes it well suited for permanent installations and automation.D1024W
The D1024W offers advanced standalone control with 20 light scenes across 4 zones, along with 4 master dimmers, 4 color wheels, 4 speed sliders, and 2 follow spots, all controllable via the TheLightingController D1024W mobile app.
Does the lightshow keep running if I disconnect the computer ?
Yes. In standalone mode, the light show continues to run independently inside the DMX interface, even if the computer is disconnected or powered off.
This ensures uninterrupted operation and prevents any blackout in case of a computer failure.
Can I store multiple scenes in multiple zones ?
Yes. Multiple scenes can be stored and organized into multiple zones, allowing flexible control of different lighting areas.
Additional standalone features and capacities are available depending on the DMX interface model, offering greater control for more advanced installations.
Standalone app
Is the standalone app free ?
Yes. The standalone app is completely free on both Android and iOS, with no subscription, no in-app purchases, and no hidden costs.
Do I need the lightshow on my smartphone ?
No. The light show is stored directly inside the DMX interface.
The mobile app is only used to control and trigger the show; it does not store any lighting data.
This ensures reliable standalone operation, even if the smartphone is disconnected or turned off.
Can I control multiple interfaces ?
Yes. The app can control multiple D1024W interfaces simultaneously, allowing you to manage several zones or installations from a single device.
Sales
Where can I buy SweetLight DMX interfaces ?
Please visit our online store and select your country.
The system will automatically show you the authorized resellers or purchasing options available in your region.
Is there a warranty ?
Yes. All our DMX interfaces come with a two-year warranty, ensuring quality, reliability, and peace of mind.
In addition, we keep printed circuit boards (PCBs) for our interfaces in stock for many years. This means that even after the warranty period, if an interface fails, we are usually able to provide a replacement PCB at a very low cost, helping extend the product’s lifetime and reduce replacement expenses.
